Ausiello answered some questions from the fans about the TV shows and he talked about Timothy’s character in The Office:

Question: Many fans of The Office are concerned that Pam dated Timothy Olyphant’s character post-Roy and pre-Jim. Is this the case? Is Jim just finding out about it now? —Matt
Ausiello:
Yes to all of the above! According to executive producer Paul Lieberstein, Pam dated Olyphant while Jim was with Karen. “Everyone in the office makes a big deal of it, and we get into Jim’s jealousy a little bit,” he says. “It bothers him a little.”

Timothy in ‘The Office’

July
2010

Though he’s best-known to fans of “The Office” as ineffectual human resources rep Toby Flenderson, Paul Lieberstein’s more important job is as the executive producer responsible for the series’ creative direction and day-to-day operations. This year, Lieberstein and “Office” developer Greg Daniels will be responsible for handling the show’s biggest challenge: writing out Steve Carell, and choosing someone to fill Michael Scott’s chair.

Lieberstein talked at NBC’s press tour party about how it will work story-wise, whether he’d prefer an internal or external successor and who the internal candidates are. We also looked back on this past season and looked ahead to some other upcoming storylines, including a guest arc for Timothy Olyphant from “Justified.” Various mild season seven spoilers coming up after the jump…

That seems like the only nice ending Michael could get. But since we’re not going to get into that for a while, what are some of the stories from this year you can tell me about?
In our premiere, we deal with nepotism. Michael hires his nephew. He’s not the most conscientious worker. We deal with the office dynamic about that. Timothy Olyphant’s going to come, and he’s going to play this salesman who is just kind of a threat to Dunder-Mifflin. He’s fantastic. He ends up beating out Michael, Dwight and Jim together, and selling at higher prices. So they do a little bit of a sting: they set up a fake company to try to figure out how he sells so well. Michael is going to come in with a cold sore one day, and he’s going to learn that that’s a form of herpes, and he’s going to feel that he has to contact every woman he’s ever been with and let them know that he has herpes.

‘Damages’ to air two more seasons.

According to The Ausiello Files, DirecTV has rescued FX’s drama Damages from cancellation. Two more seasons will air on DirecTV’s The 101 Network beginning in 2011.

A deal was recently reached between DirecTV and Sony Pictures Television. As a result, DirecTV acquires the rights to Damages from FX and will air two additional seasons beginning in 2011. Each season will consist of 10 episodes and will be shown exclusively on DirecTV’s The 101 Network.

The legal drama stars Glenn Close and Rose Byrne. Justified’s Timothy Olyphant guested during the second season as Wes Krulik, a man Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) meets in grief counseling. The two begin a relationship, although Wes has ulterior motives for striking up a romance with Ellen. Olyphant, and his Wes Krulik character, returned for the FX season finale.

What do you think? Will Timothy Olyphant’s character return?

Unfortunately, Timothy didn’t get an Emmy nomination. To see the list of awards click here.

  • latimes.com: We did notice that FX’s new drama, “Justified” was completely overlooked and that’s a shame. It’s well-written and Timothy Olyphant is phenomenal in the lead role. Walton Goggins ruled in his guest role. We know the dramatic field is crowded, but we would have made a little room for them.
